Feeling stressed? Traumatized? Impulsive? Easily triggered? Self-care in times of high stress is one of the most important things you can do for yourself as well as for those around you. If you haven’t taken care of yourself to feel grounded and calm, you won’t be of much value to your family, namely your children. This presentation will include how to find your triggers, the cost of caring, addressing external and self-imposed pressures, how to prevent and counteract stress and fatigue and identifying obstacles that limit attention to your self-care. Discussions of awareness, support networks, changing your thinking by combatting negative, irrational thoughts and maintaining healthy social boundaries and limits. Learn to increase your resiliency and your ability to cope.


WENDY SELNES a Board Certified Behavior Analyst. She holds a master’s degree in Clinical Psychology with a minor in Child Psychology. Wendy has over twenty years of experience in the field of behavior analysis and human services. She is designated as a QMRP and fulfills the qualifications of a Mental Health Professional. She is a Co-founder and Senior Behavior Analyst along with her business partner, Jan Ostrom –  operating Brih Design, a consulting firm which offers behavior analytic support and services to people who exhibit difficult to manage behaviors.


JAYA MISRA-STENQUIST a Yoga and meditation teacher in the Twin Cities. As a child, she delighted in practicing Hatha Yoga. While completing her MFA at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, she became interested in Yoga’s ability to reduce anxiety, manage pain and aid in mental and physical wellbeing. In her classes, she seeks to help students develop awareness of their bodies and find a moment of stillness outside the chaos of day-to-day life.
